  • 1Daikanjin

    This is an old and historical temple.
    It was founded about 1200 years ago.
    The present monk is the 104th.
    He devotes himself to Zenkoji temple along with the nun of Daihongan.

  • 2Nakamisedori

    There are tens of shops on both sides of the street.
    They sell Buddhist altar fittings and different kinds of souvenirs.
    They also sell ice creams and modern sweets.

  • 3Seson-in-Shakado

    In the hall, the life- sized bronze Shaka statue is lying down.
    It was made about 800 years ago.
    There are Omikuji (fortune slips), omamori (lucky charms/ amulets), and other attractive things.

  • 4Niomon

    The gate called Niomon has statues of Nioh guardians inside it.
    The Nioh guardians protect the street leading visitors to Zenkoji Temple.

  • 5Daihongan

    This temple was established at about the same time as Zenkoji temple.
    The head of Daihongan is a female monk who has been chosen by members of the imperial family.
    She is one of the monks of Zenkoji temple.

  • 6Saihoji-temple

    This is one of the oldest and most important temples in Nagano.
    The pictures on the ceiling are amazing.
    There is Nisongokurakudoh around the temple.
    The Tibetan Daibutsu statue is installed in the hall.

  • 3Nishinomon-Yoshinoya

    This shop started making Sake about 400 years ago.
    It sells Sake and customers can taste some of them.
    It offers Sake brewery tours.
